Install Fedora core 5 on Thinkpad R52 type
1846
Near all worked out of the box. There was only a few thing I
should do:
Nevertheless I did following the general description on
http://www.stanton-finley.net/
in order to setup my FC5, but the following should not be depended on
this
Special thing for my Thinkpad
Regarding
the resolution:
The default /etc/X11/xorg.conf was change such that the
section
“Monitor” look like:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0 Option"
"dpms"
EndSection
and the section “Screen” look like:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768"
EndSubSection
EndSection
My full xorg.conf file (with Danish keyboard) can be find here
Regarding the wireless network I unpacked
ipw2200-fw-2.3.tgz
ipw2200-fw-2.4.tgz
ipw2200-fw-3.0.tgz
from
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php
into /lib/firmware
All three, just to be sure (they do not overwrite each other).
After this, I was in the gnome menu go to
System->Administration->Network
In here, the wireless network card should be seen under Hardware.
Under Devices: I was going in and put in a New Devices with referece to
this wireless network card. Under Edit, I put a mark in "Activate
device when computer starts"
Now it did work for me
Other stuff
The suspend mode worked out of the box when pressing Fn+F4
When I start up, the NumLk is on and I need to press NumLk
bottom
in order to use the normal keyboard.
